Biography
Born in 1943 in Texas, Sly Stone was an all-round artist singer,
keyboard player and composer, as well as a producer of funk and soul. He
was the leader of Sly and the Family Stone which played a pivotal role
in the development of soul, funk and psychedelic trends in the ‘60s and
‘70s. Beyond the musical influence that this group had on many artists
in the ‘80s, including Prince, Sly and the Family Stone set precedents
on a racial and sexual level. In 1969, this band was unbeatable and
participated in Woodstock Festival.
