About this photograph :
Tableau de la faculté de médecine
« MAY 68 ! A date! A cycle! A generation! One more historic turn ! Our France is made this way ! As soon as she has been fattened by a certain well-being, at that moment, consequent and unexpected upheavals make her change course! If this is not a "revolution" it’s an "evolution" to which our people must adapt, of which certain dominant elements do not hold to resting passive. My activity of photography did not leave me much time, I tried, however to keep my ears and eyes open and in the direction of the places of the students ».
During the events of May 68, photographs were forbidden in the interior of the University of Toulouse (cf., the little note next to the tableau in the photo). Exception made for "Monsieur Yan" (nickname of Jean Dieuzaide at the time), a trust accorded by the students of whom he was very proud.
About the artist :
Jean
Dieuzaide
Born in 1921, Jean Dieuzaide very quickly showed a passion for photography. He proved it ardently, everywhere, from Paris to Toulouse, passing through Arles.Launched by a photograph of General de Gaulle that would be largely distributed, Jean Dieuzaide became a photojournalist. Many of his reportages appeared in the international press, such as the one dedicated to the marriage of two tightrope walkers and published by "Life." Jean Dieuzaide also photographed for "documentary" works: Gascogne, Portugal, Périgord, Languedoc, etc.
