Entrance Directory
Alexei Riboud offers a new vision of Tokyo. He has moved away from the traditional views of the megalopolis and its population pounding the pavements. He invites his audience to observe Tokyo, with their nose in the air, like him. Describing himself therefore as being ‘intoxicated with urbanity,’ his attention is entirely focussed on neon sign writing with saturated colours. For him it is a new urban poetry where the luminescent lights become the motifs of a landscape.

Since the series Soweto, Femmes sans terre in 2007, Alexei Riboud has continued to explore the world and has stopped in Asia this time, to be more precise, in Tokyo, Japan. This Franco-American, in his forties, photographs people and their environment, misery and joie de vivre, with the same enthusiasm.
